We visited Two Tony's on the first Friday of Lent.  My go-to dishes at 2 Tony's are the Italian specialties with meat: Lasagna, Veal, Meatballs...
I was pleasantly surprised that the fried seafood platter was on par with the best seafood restaurants in New Orleans.  The oysters, shrimp & fish were perfectly cooked!  Not greasy, not overly battered, just perfect.  Long ago, we discovered that 2 Tony's has the best French Onion Soup in town, so I should not have been so surprised at the perfect fried seafood. Both Toonys - Keep up the good work.

We stopped in on a weekday for lunch with a party of six. Our server was terrific, upbeat, and attentive.  The menu is huge, so everyone should be able to find something they like. Some of my party had sandwiches/poboys, some people had pasta, and I had the grilled redfish, which was great. Everyone seemed to like what they ordered, and no one left hungry. We will definitely stop by again.

This is a favorite marinara in our Boston home, especially as it reminds me of my Italian mother in laws cooking. With the fresh ingredients, it taste like New Orleans Italian home cooking. It is the perfect pairing to our pasta dishes or layered on top of chicken to make chicken parm.

AS GOOD AS MY SICILIAN

MOTHER-IN LAW'S SAUCE

I have lived in NOLA for 22 years and somehow never made it here until yesterday. What a mistake that was! The menu is huge, just about any Italian dish you could think of is on it. We started with the onion rings which may have been the best I have ever had. Crispy, not greasy at all, and so fresh tasting. The sauce that came with them was so delicious I wanted to eat it with a spoon! I had the plain fettuccine Alfredo as an entree, but there was nothing plain about it. Flavorful and rich, pasta perfectly Al dente.  I did have to add a lot of pepper to it, but that is a personal preference, and they provide a pepper grinder at the table. My friend had his favorite which is the shrimp and crawfish pasta. The martinis we had were also great. Too full for dessert, but I hope to try it when I return!

II Tony's is by far the best commercially produced marinara sauce I have eaten. It is as good as my late Sicilian Mother-in-Law's sauce and that was absolutely the best.

I grew up with a Sicilian grandmother who would make her marinara all day on the stove. Filled the house with the best smell. This marinara reminds me of it!
